Role Value Proposition:

The P&C Product Specialist supports the members of the New York State United Teachers (NYSUT) Member Benefits Trust for MetLife’s voluntary group Property and Casualty insurance. This individual is required to be P&C Licensed in the state of NY and receives approximately 5,000 calls a year. The position needs to be located inside the NYSUT headquarters building in Albany NY. The product specialist will be responsible for quoting and policy servicing for NYSUT. The individual will need to be comfortable with quoting and binding of Property and Casualty policies for individuals.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Quoting and binding of Auto and Home policies underwritten by MetLife

  2. Resolving set-up errors reported on policies sold to NYSUT members

  3. Supporting underwriting staff in rate pursuit efforts involving NYSUT members

  4. Working with account manager on NYSUT billing issues

  5. Performing billing transfers, holds and standardizations

  6. Investigating complaints presented to the account, and calling members back, as warranted

  7. Customer Service and problem solving

  8. Convey the value of the Group P&C Program and appropriate discounts to NYSUT employees

  9. Research all terminations weekly to ensure justification and provide NYSUT with the details. Review for reconsideration those requested by NYSUT.

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  1. P&C licensed (NY) individual

  2. Minimum of 1-year Auto and Home quoting and policy servicing experience; preferably with MetLife’s Group or Retail P&C platforms

  3. Solid P&C policy/coverage knowledge

  4. Desirable to have claims or underwriting experience

  5. Customer service and problem solving

  6. Strong communication skills – written and oral

  7. Knowledge of Microsoft Office software – Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint

  8. Highly detailed-oriented/organized

  9. Ability to work autonomously

  10. High School Education , College Degree Preferred

  11. Must be able to effectively “multi-task” - manage concurrent projects in deadline driven environment
