We are looking for applicants that are willing to help support our mission and vision while working with the people we support.
Our Intensive IRA's (Individualized Residential Alternative) are single family residences located throughout Columbia County where individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities live with the added support of staff to assist them with daily living skills.
Individuals living in our Intensive IRA Residential Homes require more care than in an IRA. It could include higher medical needs, behavior support, communication facilitation, and needing assistance with eating, bathing and toileting.
The focus in this position:
Assist each individual in knowing their personal strengths and worth and sharing these traits with others in various community settings.
Work in a professional and ethical manner to establish a trusting relationship with the individuals and the employees at the site.
Follow all training, safety and reporting procedures. Maintain records and ensure completion of all required documentation.
Assist the individuals in maintaining a comfortable and orderly home by teaching them within the scope of their abilities home cleaning activities, care for clothing, cooking skills and personal care skills.
Assist and/or distribute medications per individual's requirements.
Participate in meetings to stay focused on the individuals' wants, needs and goals.
The requirements of this position:
High School Diploma or GED (now called TASC).
Exceptional written, communication, and computer skills.
A valid driver's license.
Ability to be certified in all required trainings.
Occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds.
Preferred 1 year experience with individuals who exhibit challenging behaviors.
